From 1988 to 2018 in only 30 years is a complete turn over of the prices at fuels for cars. Numbers based on German prices and solar radiation.

  Only 20 years ago

  Turning point 2008

So in the 20 years from 1988 to 2008, a 1:5 price difference was brought to a tie.

  Price prognosis 2018

The Diesel price has only doubled in the last 20 years. But when PeakOil had been 2006, we have to assume a much faster price increas. With 150%, it would be 3.-EUR per litre in 2018

At photovoltaic will be the price halve because of new thin film technology and mass production. 1 kWh solar electric power for 20 Cent.
