Load speedHow many km range can be per hour load time or refueling put in the batteries or in the tanks? An important criteria for reference number vehicles. You pour in 2 minutes 60 litre Diesel in the tank, that's enough for 1000 km. This gives a very high load speed of 30.000 km/h. At electric vehicles, we have to adjust for much lower load speeds. Instead of 60 litre Diesel to charge 200 kWh electric power would require a 6 MW charger.
This applies only for the first part of the charging where the carger charges the battery with maximum power. All known charger reduce near the end of the charging to a much lower power.
Is it possible to load significant range during parking at school, work or a shopping center? That is the criteria for is the charger strong enough for extending the range. Is the load speed much higher than the usual traveling speed is the criteria for suitable for long distances. Otherwise, more time would be spent at charging than at driving. |
